Our Vision
|
Baraka Umm Ayman Foundation aims to support and connect Muslim women of the African diaspora to the fullness of their identities as both believers and as Black women, to foster a deeper knowledge of their histories and cultures, and to offer them events, experiences, and discussions that contribute to their personal, spiritual, and creative growth.
A primary objective of the Foundation is to create a platform that highlights Muslim women of the African diaspora, their talent, social contributions, knowledge, and experiences. The inspiration behind this organization is the noble lady Baraka Umm Ayman, a woman of paradise, a defender of the faith, and mother to two great Companions.

However, the best title she ever possessed was what the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ himself bestowed on her: “Ummi ba'da Ummi," my mother after my mother. She was the African mother of Rasulullah ﷺ, a true believer, supporter, and defender of the Prophet ﷺ and of Islam, a highly intelligent woman of great wisdom, great heart, and great deeds. In her we find a guide as women of the African diaspora.
